I’ve answered Taryn’s questions, so come by and see us on Tuesday!

Tuesday Author Talk

I’m happy to have debut author, Donna Steele here today! Tell us a little bit about yourself, Donna.
A little about me, well I’ve been writing my whole life and I’m finally going to let someone read it. I write science fiction/paranormal romance. Rth Rising is my first published novel. It’s being published as an eBook through Rebel Ink Press (thank you E!)
My own personal delicious hero and I are now empty nesters and love it. Money stays in my purse and we can eat what we want instead of what they want.

Who was your first author crush and why?

Geez, there were a lot – I suppose Julie Campbell who wrote the Trixie Belden books – I owned everyone of them and read them to tatters. I couldn’t wait to be 13 like she was and on my 13th birthday I got the book where she turned 14…. sigh

What was your first clue you were a writer? Was it a long journey or a short one? Have you always known?
I’ve always known – I was writing stories in first grade. I just didn’t let anyone read anything for years and years. They were just for me.
What are some of your writer-esque quirks (do you have to be in your pjs? always facing the door? Do people look at you after something funny happens and say ‘that’s going in a book, isn’t it?’)?
I don’t have an office at home. I have what my husband refers to as my “nest”. It’s a big chair and a half recliner, with everything stacked around me. That’s my most productive place to write. When I’m stuck, I do pull out a pen and pad and feel the words rather than typing them. And I ignore my husband when he wants me to “clean up” my nest.
And oh yes, my boss even makes that comment now – and he’s right.
Finish this joke: A clown, a priest and a writer all get onto an elevator…
Okay, no matter what I try I still can’t finish it. Of course, I can’t remember a punch line long enough to walk around my desk . . .
