August was busy at Steelestories
I finally got back to writing in August – in addition to the monthly “Book in a Week” writing sprint that I participate in, we did even more with Book in a Month. I was light the first week due to our annual Cousins’ Reunion, but still wrote almost every day, averaging over 700 words a day! I got the final edits on my Christmas novella – Christmas at Monroe House, Worked on the third book in the Reclusive series, and a new one Pearl Cove. It’s a contemporary I’ve been playing with and finally got serious about.
I also read 9 books as part of the Read Every Day for Cancer in August. Not a hard challenge for me.
I’d love your help on choosing the cover for the first book in the Reclusive series, coming out in September. Let me know your favorite and enter a drawing for a copy of the book when it drops! (just email me at steelestories@gmail.com)

When Amy is offered a too-good-to-be true job to work for a reclusive businessman who is recovering from injuries, she’s hesitant but the guy interviewing her really seems to want her to take the job. It’s only for six months even if it is live-in. Yeah, a little weird.
The last thing Victor wants is a female assistant. He doesn’t need an assistant at all if people would listen to him. He’s getting stronger. He’ll be walking soon. The fact that injuries of any kind are foreign to him is the holdup. However, there is something… different about this woman.
Had some interruptions, I mentioned Cousins’ Reunion – our 41st annual – and there were also birthdays for La Daughter and younger grandson. He turned 5! We went to a trampoline park. I did not participate in that part but watched from the sidelines..
The 90’s have broken around here and it feels so much better. They may not be gone for the year but I’m feeling hopeful. Just had to watch out for Hurricane Erin. Hope everyone stayed safe!
Some books you should look out for if you haven’t read them yet–
See you in September…
