About Donna Steele

Women strong enough for love. I write about strong women in lots of areas - science fiction, paranormal and contemporary fiction romance - women coming into their strength and having the courage to find and accept love. As an empty nester with my beloved best friend and husband (who actually encourages this mad passion of mine) I write all the time – whether or not I have a pen or keyboard handy. Ever since I learned to read—from Superman Comics, Dick, Jane and Sally held no appeal—I’ve wanted to write. The possibilities of science fiction have always drawn me and I’ve read them all. There just needed to be a little more romance in them. I finally got up the courage and I’m delighted that I’m able to share these stories with you. My small town romance novels - Homecoming, Welcome Home, Red Shoes, Nowhere for Christmas, Christmas Present and Dance Partner are available at all eBook vendors. My paranormal romance eBooks Learning Trust, The Melting Series, and Wraith's Heart are now available at all eBook sellers. Wraith's Heart and Learning Trust are now also available in paperback through Amazon. I’m a member of Romance Writers of American, the Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal Chapter of RWA and the Heart of Carolina Romance Writers. www.steelestories.com https://www.facebook.com/DonnaSteeleAuthor http://goo.gl/dH6PAA

Excerpt –

Wendy’s sleep was restless so she allowed herself to sleep late the next morning. It was Saturday and she’d made tentative plans to meet Chloe for brunch and shopping but she was in the mood for neither.

Damn it, why was she still thinking about him? She’d probably never see the man again. She didn’t even know his last name and she doubted he frequented dance clubs. Why did that sink her mood even lower? She’d never be able to dance with him.

Why had he been staring at her?  Clearly he hadn’t want to talk.  Had she made a fool of herself on the dance floor? Her skirt was short, but others had been shorter. Maybe it was her hair.  She’d always known people noticed redheads.

Wendy wondered what had happened to him.  But what did it matter? She was an idiot and needed to get her act together.

When she finally connected with Chloe, her first question was. “What was the name of that guy that Cheryl was dating?

“Gary, wasn’t it? He was at the club last night. I’m sure I spotted him.”

“Yes, Gary. Know his last name?”

Chloe shook her head. “You interested?”

“No, but he left with a guy I’d like to see again.”

“Girl, if you didn’t meet him last night, he’s not worth meeting. You were hot last night.”

“Did I make a fool of myself?”

“What? No! Did something happen?”

Wendy shook her head. “The guy Gary was with didn’t seem that impressed.”

“His loss.” Chloe sniffed and Wendy smiled, but it was halfhearted. Why did she think it was her loss?

A Series!

Yes, I’m excited! I just signed the contract for my eighth (8th!!!) book with Rebel Ink Press. And this one is the first of a three-part series. The Melting (working title) is Science Fiction with romantic elements and some paranormal touches. I’ve wanted to write this one since I visited the glaciers on an Alaskan cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary. See marrying him has all kinds of benefits!  glacier

I always wondered about these series, but I hadn’t tried one  before.  It’s nice to be able to develop what had been secondary characters to a more prominent level. I already know the people and to delve into what makes them tick is compelling. In other words, I might try this again in the future.

Amanda and David consumed me at first – that’s the first book but I felt Meg begin to tug on me to give her a story. When Jim appeared, the story was there, I just had to get it down. Now Rachel is demanding her story and she’s very demanding. I hope I can do her justice. When I get the dates (and the covers) you know I’ll share.

In the meantime there is that short story coming out February 3 – Dance Partner. No, these guys aren’t in there and it’s a totally different kind of story, but enjoy and I’ll get back to you when I come out of major writing mode and have Rachel all settled!  Dance Partner cover 012014
