How I Spent My Weekend

I love family, always have and this weekend was full of it (does that sound right?) Hey, it’s the truth. My roommate-niece Alexis’s wedding was this weekend in Atlanta. It’s not that far away, so another roommate and I carpooled it down to meet up with the other roommates (You know I talk about “the girls” all the time – yeah them) and we “wedding-d’ together.

Stayed at a very nice Embassy Suites and took full advantage of the omelet stand for breakfast twice as well as the happy hour. Susan and I had a two room suite where we could relax between events. One of the issues was they had planned an outdoor wedding. May isn’t April and full of showers but the planet has changed enough that the last few years it’s been May showers and that’s what happened. Rehearsal dinner was in a lovely restaurant (and probably the best steak I’ve had in years) and since we got there early to find parking nearby due to rain and because I need get lost time, we got to know Alexis and Michaelthe wait staff and had a great time hanging out with them. Caught up with the rest of the roommates (like the bride’s mother) there and partied hardy.  Joy and Alexis

Next day was rain again. We had nothing to do until we got ready for the wedding at 5:30 so we decided to hit a chick flick.  Saw The Other Woman and loved it.  We were on the floor laughing so highest kudos to Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton .

Rain was not good for an outdoor wedding but the venue had it all under control and the ceremony was in a lovely rustic chapel on the grounds. Shuttles carried us to and from the chapel, the reception area and the parking. These people had their act together. Reception was wonderful (you can see that building behind us), got to visit with the bride’s aunt and catch up, met family of the bride’s father who live too far away to know well and I danced. Haven’t done that for ages and probably made a fool of myself but who cares, no one was watching me.   Here’s some of us – missing one roomie and the bride’s mom, but still a crowd.  Wishing Alexis and Michael the very best always!!Bette, Susan, Donna, Sara and Dennis at wedding

About Donna Steele

Women strong enough for love. I write about strong women in lots of areas - science fiction, paranormal and contemporary fiction romance - women coming into their strength and having the courage to find and accept love. As an empty nester with my beloved best friend and husband (who actually encourages this mad passion of mine) I write all the time – whether or not I have a pen or keyboard handy. Ever since I learned to read—from Superman Comics, Dick, Jane and Sally held no appeal—I’ve wanted to write. The possibilities of science fiction have always drawn me and I’ve read them all. There just needed to be a little more romance in them. I finally got up the courage and I’m delighted that I’m able to share these stories with you. My small town romance novels - Homecoming, Welcome Home, Red Shoes, Nowhere for Christmas, Christmas Present and Dance Partner are available at all eBook vendors. My paranormal romance eBooks Learning Trust, The Melting Series, and Wraith's Heart are now available at all eBook sellers. Wraith's Heart and Learning Trust are now also available in paperback through Amazon. I’m a member of Romance Writers of American, the Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal Chapter of RWA and the Heart of Carolina Romance Writers. www.steelestories.com https://www.facebook.com/DonnaSteeleAuthor http://goo.gl/dH6PAA

  1. Looks like a beautiful wedding! I love family events and weddings but missed the last wedding in our family. My husband’s cousin’s daughter got married the weekend I came home from the hospital so we were unable to attend. So glad you got to go to the Atlanta wedding. I know you had a good time.

    • It was great – should write two or three short stories about it – LOL Always fun when the girls are involved.
