Another Memorial Day

Welcome  Home

Many Americans have forgotten the meaning of Memorial Day  but it is so important to honor our fallen heroes. I remember getting the red poppy at school when I was a child, handed out by the older veterans, a reminder that brave men and woman forfeited their lives to keep our homeland safe.

When the veterans come home today we have videos of surprised and delighted wives and children. That didn’t happen with Vietnam and I’m glad we at least learned that much.

When Bobby returns changed to a very changed world, can Katie help make him whole again?

  1. HI DONNA. I REMEMBER TOO! GUESS WE ARE SHOWING OUR AGE. LOL SUCH A SHAME MOST OF US ARE INTO SELF FOR INSTANCE MY GRANDSON GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND WE GAVE HIM 100 DOLLARS OF OUR SCRIMPED AND SAVED MONEY, YET HE DIDN’T HAVE THE DECENCY TO SAVE THANKS! WE ALWAYS FLY OUR FLAG AND PRAY FOR SOLDIERS IN HARMS WAY! MY GUY IS A VIET NAM VET!

  2. Loved this book. Although it was short–short enough to read in a doctor’s office waiting room–it packed a punch and brought tears to my eyes. I was 14 when Saigon fell and I remember seeing protests and hearing phrases like “baby killers.” And I remember feeling ashamed that some Americans had so little respect for those who sacrificed so very much to keep this country free. My son-in-law is a former army sergeant who is now a civilian contractor for the army and I couldn’t be more proud of him!

  3. Thanks, Lilly! And I don’t blame you. Haven’t met him yet and I’m proud of him too. My niece is marrying her veteran next May and I can’t wait.
