As we approach a new year it seems appropriate to tell you about my upcoming Trilogy, The Lost Night. A Romantic Adventure set in Outer Space.

Book one, Black Night, is my very first completed manuscript. I wrote it six years ago. The response from my friends and family was so positive I followed it with book two, Castle of Doom. For the third in the series I decided to try something different and took the reader back in history with book three, The Beginnings. (This title is subject to change and I hope it does.)

Now, six years ago I knew nothing about editing or publishing. I just thought “I wrote a book, my friends love it, I’m going to be an author.” Then reality hit in the form of a rejection letter—lots of them. After years of trying to find a home for the Lost Night, I pushed it aside and wrote my first Romantic Suspense, Victim of Circumstances. In September 2011 Rebel Ink Press made my dream come true with a contract. I’m not ashamed to say I danced around my living room that day.

In September of 2012 I Rebel Ink Press accepted The Lost Night Trilogy to be released early 2013.

In between, Jenny hits the Jackpot was released in October 2012. And I do have another Contemporary Suspense hiding in the closet for 2013.

I gulped champagne when Johnny got up from his chair, pushing it aside before dropping down on one knee.

Every eye in the place watched in anticipation when he pulled out a red velvet box. The room was so quiet, I heard his slow exhale before he spoke, “Sienna James, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

The tears I’d expected refused to come. I was much too numb too cry. I stared at the most incredible ring I’d ever seen thinking, this time yesterday I was kissing Marc by the river and tonight my father was giving his consent and blessing for Johnny to marry me. At this moment I truly hated them all. Grabbing Johnny’s glass off the table, I downed the contents before meeting his eyes. “Why not.” I shrugged.

1) What is the working title of your next book?

Homecoming came out in December, so I’m taking a five minute break before diving into the next one.

2) Where did the idea come from for the book?

This one is different for me. I normally write Sci Fi/Paranormal romance, but this idea came to me when I had to clean out my parents’ house after they were gone. Quite cathartic.

3) What genre does your book fall under?

This one is contemporary women’s fiction.  Who knew?

4) What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition? 

Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Josh Duhamel look the parts, but I can’t say I’ve seen them in anything like this.

5) What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Ashley didn’t expect to find anything of worth in her grandmother’s old house.

6) Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

My book is published by the wonderful people at Rebel Ink Press!

7) How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?

Less than a year, but not a lot less.

8) What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

This isn’t my normal genre so I’m just not sure. It’s a category I need to explore more.

9) Who or what inspired you to write this book?

My parents were children of the Depression and never threw anything away. The problem was I didn’t know what was important and what wasn’t when it came time to clean everything out – it was a nightmare going through a household of their treasurers without that knowledge.  I know I screwed up in some areas.

10) What else about the book might pique the reader’s interest?

It’s a story of facing old demons and seeing that you really are as strong as you pretend to be, especially knowing there’s that one person at your back when you need them.

When her breath caught at the realization of just exactly what he had planned, Allen leaned in and kissed her again, then leisurely made his way down. He kissed her chin then nipped the underside of it before flicking a trail with his tongue down the side of her throat where he sank his teeth into the hollow of her shoulder. Coming to accept what was going to happen, Nicki seemed to let go and leaned back on her palms, affording him access to her breasts.

So pretty, leaned back, offering herself to him, handful sized breasts jutting in the air, her nipples already shrinking into hard nubs. Allen took the left one between his teeth and razed it. He looked up to see her eyes drifting shut and her lips parted, staggered breaths whispering across them. She was so responsive to his treatment of her breasts, so completely receptive to the small amount of pain he used, bringing him to question if she’d be equally responsive to different kinds of pain, pain more severe than a spanking. For some reason, the image of her splayed atop the piano on her belly, spread-eagled and strapped down came to his mind’s eye. Her back was striped in his fantasy from the caress of his short-tail.
